How to Set up your Brother machine on a wireless network?

1.Important things to remember before  you set up your Brother device.

It is important to keep handy the wireless network settings of your wireless router or access point. Have a piece of paper and make a note of information shared below:

  • Name of Network (also referred as “SSID” or “ESSID”)
  • Network Key (also termed as “Password”, “Security Key” or “Encryption Key”)

Easy way to find out the Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Password)

 

  1. It is always either at the bottom or side of the wireless router or access point.
  2. You can also find the same on the documentation shared with yourself with wireless router or access point.

Always Remember: Brother does not have this information available with them; hence, in case you are facing difficulty in locating wireless Network router Name and Network Key, always get in touch with your Internet service provider or router manufacturer.

Once you are equipped with the network information of your wireless router or access point, proceed to step 2 to set up your device on a wireless network.

Important to remember: In case your wireless router or access point is using WEP encryption with multiple keys, note down and always use the first WEP key.

  1. Setting up a Brother printer on a wireless network

Now you must be having all information related to settings of your wireless network router or access point, you need to set up your Brother machine  as explained below. We have share a link of video as well to understand it in a better way.

Do not panic:

  • If, the product components which you are using may be different from what have been represented in video For example: the power cord.
  • Video content may change without a prior notice.
  • Size of the captions shown in YouTube video may be changed by you by pressing Captions(Captions) Arrow Options….

Steps to Set up your Brother printer on a wireless network:

 

  1. Join the power cable to your Brother printer and then join the another end in an electrical socket. Make sure that your printer has turned on..
  2. Now you need to hit Menu button on the device’s control panel.
  3. Now you need to select the Network by navigating with the help of Up or Down key and click OK.
  4. Now you need to again move Up and Down keys to choose WLAN and hit OK. This step may not follow with all Brother devices and it may need to do for only specific models
  5. To choose Setup Wizard, again move Up and Down keys and hit OK..
  6. When you see a message on screen which reflects WLAN Enable?, choose Yes to enable the wireless network. This step will initiate the wireless setup wizard.
  7. Now the machine will automatically start search network and will bring a list of available Network names (SSIDs).
    When you see all options having list of SSIDs available in front of you on the screen, you need to move Up and Down keys to choose the SSID you kept safe earlier and then choose OK.
  8. Proceed according to the security options:
    • In case you are using, a secure way and an authentication and encryption method which must be requiring the Network Key (Password)
      Proceed with entering the Network Key, then choose OK to apply all your settings. You need to choose Yes to apply the settings.
    • If you are using no security on your network and your authentication method is Open System and your encryption mode is None
      Proceed with next step.
  9. Now Brother printer will try to establish to make a successful connection with your network which you have chosen..
    If you printer is successfully connected to the internet. If the printer fails to setup a connection.
     The LCD of your Brother printer will display Connected.
    Connected
    The Brother device will print a report of wireless connection code on the printed report.

    You need to look for the error code on printed report.

    Connection failed

    The device will generate a wireless connection report.

3. Download and Install software of your Brother’s printer

Now it is turn to install the software on your Brother printer after successful setup of device. For downloading the drivers:

 

For Windows users

Visit www.support.brother.com and go the Downloads section of the website and download the Full Driver & Software Package. Simply keep on following all instructions on the download page.

 

For Mac users:

Visit www.support.brother.com and go the Downloads section of the website and download the Full Software Package. Simply keep on following all instructions on the download page.

In case you do not get Full Software Package, you need to download Printer Driver and Scanner Driver. Always remember to follow instructions available on the download page.

In case Printer Driver and Scanner Driver are also not available, then we recommend using AirPrint.

If your device is not supporting AirPrint, simply go the App Store and download Brother iPrint&Scan app on your system.
